TGIF

It's been such a crazy week! Planning everything from Christmas gifts, to work related issues, to Luis' party, to Luis' sister arriving. I am looking forward to going home and seeing my family and friends, and spending time getting away from it all....the busy DC life, my work, keeping up with the apartment cleaning, bills, payments, etc. But, I'm here at work today anticipating the company Christmas party. We'll probably be leaving in about 2 hours to this place called Mango Mikes, a caribbean restaurant/bar. I hear there's gonna be good food and drinks. I am craving a good cocktail right about now..and its only 10:30AM, LOL. I think I'm excited also because we just received our bonus and all I can say is CHA CHING! I don't think I had ever been given a bonus in any other job Ive had...then again, I had never worked in this kind of business/atmosphere. Even though this place is a non profit organization, there's a very professional atmosphere and it is more business oriented than anything else I'd ever done before.

Luis' party is this Saturday. Tonight I'm gonna start making the food that will be refrigerated, as well as the two pumpkin cheesecakes. We spent over 200 bucks last night at Giant just buying the party food. I am making appetizers, eclusively. A short list of the items:

curried salmon sandwiches
shrimp & bacon bites
caramelized onion tartlets
spinach stuffed mushrooms
poblano & artichoke feta dip
glazed meatballs
walnut covered cheeseballs
and more........

Anyway, I should get back to work. We're gonna head to the party in a while.

Here Comes The Snow!

Its snowing Outside!!!!! I'm on my lunch break at work and I just opened my window to reveal beautiful, white snowflakes pouring down. Apparently the snow will last through Wednesday and there will be around 3-4 inches of snow. This is the first time, since I moved to DC, that it snows. There was light ice flakes the day before Thanksgiving, but nothing like this. I wish this would last forever.

The Invitation

It's A Holiday!

Saturday, December 17th I'm throwing Luis his 25th birthday party. I'm currently planning and getting ideas about food, drinks, and themes. I think he's not kidding about the disco theme. Where can I get tiny shiny disco balls? This weekend we're probably going to get some decorations and supplies. Foods in mind at the moment are something with salmon, cheese is always a good option, shrimp, maybe some sort of stuffed vegetable....um bacon and cheese is another good option..lol We'll see.

Im currently in the middle of also buying Christmas gifts for everyone. So far, I have gifts for both my brothers and my sister, both my grandmothers, and a friend. All I can say is that I'm more than sure they're gonna love their gifts. I feel pretty darn special this year because I've evolutionized in my independence. I'm working hard for my money..ok, im working for my money, I am putting extra thought into my gifts, and I'm saving for the wedding at the same time! I know what I'm gonna get Luis for Xmas! The ____ with ___, isnt that awesome! Im sure he's gonna love it. I'm a bit worried about what to get my mother. On some level, I think that she won't care and she'll love whatever I get her. But, on another level, I feel like it is my responsiblity to give her something very special this year, something that has true meaning and shows my deep love for her. I have to go out of my way to get her something really special. If any of you siblings is reading this, email me and let me know...any ideas? My father is probably the most easiest to shop for, and not because I'm not putting thought into what Im getting him, but because he's very easy going and I know that what I get him he will like. Actually, I already know what I'm getting him. I just need to go out there and buy it. And soon. One of the things I thought I wasn't going to miss from Laredo, was the holidays. All those Mexican crammed into stores, the long lines, people pushing and shoving each other to make their ways through aisles, to desperately get to items that are limited in stores. Like that damn Xbox360...I mean, what the fuck?? seriously??? WHAT THE FLYING FUCK? But my point is...it's the same here...or even worse. People waiting in line all night in order to get inside the stores when they open..complete and udder stupidity. Or at least I think so. Alas, I will rejoice once my shopping is complete. And most of my shopping has been online so far. Luis hasn't even started buying gifts for his family, and here I am with a plethora of stuff. Now I feel regretful.

Pulse

Tomorrow I'm going to watch this horror japanese movie called 'Pulse'. The E Street Theatre downtown is having a showing starting tomorrow and I'm psyched about it! I recently saw the trailer when I went to see the the Sara Silverman movie (Jesus Is Magic) LOL. I wish this movie was released all over, but I'm sure it's in limited release. There will be a US remake of it next summer, which will probably be crap! I hear Veronica Mars chick is starring in it *rolls eyes*.

Anyway, here's the synopsis:

When a friend who recently commited suicide makes ghostly reappearances in grainy computer and video images his friends wonder - Is their frind trying to contact them from beyond the grave or is there something more sinister afoot? The mysterious floppy disk they find in the dead man's apartment may provide a clue, but instead launches a program that seems to present odd, ethereal transmissions of people engaged in solitary activities in their apartments. But their is something not quite right in the appearance and behavior of these lonely souls. Soon, there are more strange deaths and disappearances within the group, terrifying rooms sealed in red tape, and the the appearance of mor ghosts as the city of Tokyo - and the world - is slowly drained of life.
